Additional InformationThis is a 3-day course which starts at 10am and completes at 4pm, running on a Thursday over 3 consecutive weeks: 10th, 17th and 24th September. Day 1 Care of the deteriorating patient: Recognition of physiological deterioration, use of early warning scores, sepsis, escalation, SBAR, and working with critical care teams. Delivered by a Nurse Specialist with Intensive Therapy Unit (ITU) experience, to ensure authenticity, depth, and inter-professional credibility in teaching deterioration and critical care pathways. Day 2 Complex medical conditions in pregnancy: Cardiac disease, diabetes, obesity, respiratory disease, mental health and multi-morbidities. Day 3 Red flags and safe escalation: Clinical red flags, safeguarding, professional accountability, decision-making under pressure, and acting on concern. Day 2 and 3 delivered by the midwifery teaching team, drawing on expertise in complex maternity care, leadership, and safety. | |||||||||||||||||
